Reading a set code
In a Japanese code like SV2a or M4, the letters name the series (SV for Scarlet & Violet, S for Sword & Shield, M for Mega Evolution), the number gives the release order, and a lowercase letter marks a special set. English cards print a three-letter set code along with a regulation mark letter for tournaments.
